It must be considered that maybe this have the goal to resonate with the earth endogenous electromagnetic frequencies (Schumann resonances and geomagnetic pulsations) .
As a curiosity if we hypothesize the earth electrical activity as an activity of a giant brain we can also see that has congruent scale-invariant properties when are compared to human brain .
