Magnetosensitivity in the Stingless Bee Tetragonisca angustula Magnetic Inclination Can Alter the Choice of the Flying Departure Angle From the Nest


When a magnetic field of the intensity equivalent to the geomagnetic field (or somewhat bigger) is applied originating from magnets in different angles the bees departure angles from nest are changed consequently.

It must be taken into consideration that this effect disappear when the intensity of the applied field is 4 times or more intense than the natural local geomagnetic field, this is because the bees donĀ“t see these unnaturally intense fields as information fields.
