Numerical and experimental studies of mechanisms underlying the effect of pulsed broadband terahertz radiation on nerve cells


" As the incident power was decreased, we observed first a depressive and then a stimulating effect of THz radiation on neurite growth. The growth stimulation effect reached 147±22% (significance level p < 0.05) relative to the controls at a THz power density of about 1.1 µW/cm2."
