Spatiotemporal Imaging of Water in Operating Voltage-Gated Ion Channels Reveals the Slow Motion of Interfacial Ions


It doesnt speak about biophotons but they discover that electric signal propagation in neurons is very probably not mediated by membrane lateral diffusion of ions, because ion transport along membrane chanel is to slow (that is what is experimentally discovered here).

So some kind of biophotonic propagation is more probable, microtubules have been proposed as waveguides [1], or generally axons (specifically in myelinated axons there is a growing interest in this explanation [2], because propagation is even more fast on these, but this may/must apply also for unmyelinated axons [3]).
