A 50 Hz magnetic field influences the viability of breast cancer cells 96 h after exposure

" Our data demonstrate that different magnetic flux densities but also different 50 Hz ELF-MF exposure times can have opposite effects on in vitro viability and proliferation of breast cells. Effects are visible after 96 h from exposure. The mitochondrion of breast cells is a target organelle for ELF-MF as well as the ROS production. Our data, although limited to in vitro exposures, stimulate further studies to investigate possible effects on mammary cells of ELF-MF exposures of magnetic flux densities compatible with the law limits for the general population and for people exposed in the workplaces." {Credits 1}
